PLAY ON PEDALS

February 19 2017

As most of you are aware we run a Play on Pedals programme within the 3-5 areas of the Nursery. As part of this Children learn about the parts of a bicycle, how to fit a helmet correctly and the basics of looking after their bikes. Through a series of fun and imaginative activities, they are helped to develop their balance and control skills, using a pedal-less balance bike. When ready, children will then get the opportunity to move onto a pedal bike. All sessions and games are designed to support confidence, interactive learning and the development of physical skills. Play on Pedals training is a fantastic pre-cursor to the Bikeability Scotland training that is delivered in many primary schools. This programme has been running successfully for over a year now and will continue to be on offer every year. At the beginning of the new school year (August) an email will be sent to all parents with the new arrangements and they can reply to this or speak to Carolyne (Rooms 11 & 12) or Jennifer (Rooms 9 & 10) personally if they are interested in their child participating. We aim to include as many children as possible and each child will participate for 6 weeks (1 hour per week).
